Janaya Williams, LMSW (She/Her)

Calm. Connected. Real.
Hi, I'm Janaya. I bring warmth, light humor, and curiosity into the therapy space. I meet people where they are and walk alongside them as they navigate healing, identity, and growth.

My Approach

My style is adaptive, trauma-informed, and strength-based. I center the voices and experiences of BIPOC, QTBIPOC, and LGBTQIA+ individuals and work collaboratively with:

  • Adolescents, adults, families

  • People navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, substance use

  • Justice-involved individuals

  • Folks living with HIV/AIDS or chronic stressors

I use:

  • CBT, narrative therapy, and motivational interviewing

  • Sex- and body-positive frameworks

  • Culturally attuned, affirming, anti-oppressive practices

Training & Experience

  • BA in Forensic Psychology – John Jay College

  • MSW – Silberman School of Social Work, Hunter College

  • Group facilitator and clinician for QTBIPOC clients

What Grounds and Moves Me

Storytelling

Let me listen to your story.

I’m moved by music, performance, and the poetry of everyday life—and I’m honored to hold space for the stories people carry and share.

Laughter

Let’s laugh together.

Laughter is one of my greatest joys and healing tools—bringing lightness where and when it’s needed most.

You’re stronger than you think.

I’m deeply committed to uplifting marginalized voices and helping people reconnect with the power that has carried them this far.
