Akeera Peterkin, LCSW (She/They)

Genuine. Compassionate. Personable.
Hello and welcome! I’m Akeera. For me, therapy is an allyship—a partnership where you are heard, understood, and respected through life’s challenges. Together, we create a space for you to heal and shape a meaningful life.

My Approach

I provide an inclusive, affirming, and decolonized space for individuals navigating trauma, identity, and emotional challenges. I specialize in working with those impacted by relational, systemic, environmental, and man-made traumas.

Communities I support include (but are not limited to):

  • BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color)

  • LGBTQIA+, TGNC individuals

  • Creative spirits, healers, introverts, empaths

  • Community members, knowledge-seekers, and those reclaiming their healing

Every person is unique. I use an eclectic blend of evidence-based modalities and theories, tailoring my approach to your individual needs and experiences.

Training & Experience

  • Founder and owner of Amani Nia Therapeutic Services

  • Over a decade of clinical experience in nonprofit settings including domestic violence, human trafficking agencies, college counseling centers, and civil legal services

  • Passionate mentor, facilitator, and clinical supervisor who believes education is key to liberation and self-determination — inspired by the Black Panther Party philosophy

  • Deep commitment to exploring identity, interpersonal violence, and intersectionality in mental and emotional health

What Grounds and Moves Me

Culture & Travel

I welcome your life experiences.

I cherish the chance to explore new people, places, and foods. Traveling broadens my perspective and connects me to the world’s beauty and complexity.

The Arts

Let’s create that life that you envision.

Music, mixed media, poetry, photography, performance—I embrace creative expression as a powerful way to heal and unite.

I stand with you.

I’m committed to showing up—in voice, action, and care—for those impacted by oppression, because healing is tied to justice. Nature and community remind me our freedom is bound together.
